About Blazon

The launch team for deep tech founders.

A deep tech marketing agency is not a B2B SaaS agency in a lab coat. The audience is technical, the buyers are sceptical, the sales cycles run 12 to 24 months, and the C-suite is full of PhDs who can spot a marketing platitude at fifty paces. The work is translation: turning hard science into investor narrative, customer demand, and category authority without dumbing the science down.

Blazon has spent a decade launching products that other agencies refuse to touch. Robotics, hardware, biotech, climate tech, regulated medical, defense-adjacent, and frontier AI. We bring the consumer-tech launch playbook (PR, paid, crowdfunding, Shopify, growth) to companies most marketing agencies do not understand. Most deep tech specialists handle PR alone. We run the full product launch stack.

What We Do

Six services built for frontier technology

01

Investor & Fundraise PR

Series A and B announcements, board comms, customer reference letters, and ongoing thought leadership in The Information, TechCrunch, Sifted and FT.

02

Technical Credibility

Translating science into market story without dumbing it down. White papers, founder essays, and benchmark content technical buyers actually trust.

03

Founder PR

Positioning founders as category authorities. Conference keynotes, podcast circuit, op-eds, LinkedIn distribution, and the long game of becoming the name journalists call.

04

Go-to-Market Strategy

Lab to first $1M ARR. Channel strategy, ICP work, pricing, pilot motion, and the operational plan that turns a press cycle into a sales pipeline.

05

Hardware & Crowdfunding

The capability no other deep tech agency has. $120M+ raised on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, plus equity crowdfunding under Reg CF, Reg D, and Reg A+.

06

Regulated & Enterprise Content

Medical, defense, energy, finance. Compliant content workflows, legal review, and a creative team that has shipped FDA-cleared products and regulated launches.

Sectors We Serve

Frontier categories across hard science and applied engineering. We launch where the technical bar is highest.

Space & Aerospace Hardware & IoT Energy Materials Science Defense Tech Space & Aerospace Hardware & IoT Energy Materials Science Defense Tech

Who we say no to

Specialists do better work because they decline more often.

We say no a lot. Pre-seed companies without a product roadmap get nothing useful from a marketing agency. Consumer apps without a hardware or scientific moat fit better with growth shops. Pure SaaS without a frontier component is well-served by the dozens of B2B SaaS agencies already out there. And we will not run a "growth hacking" sprint with no underlying strategy. The audience is too sophisticated.

What we say yes to: funded deep tech founders with a real product, a real fundraise, and a real launch window inside the next 12 months. If that is you, we want the call. For founders weighing a hardware launch on Kickstarter or Indiegogo as a path to commercial validation, see how our crowdfunding agency work pairs with deep tech go-to-market.

Our Process

Five phases from Series A to commercial scale

A deep tech engagement is not a single campaign. It is a sequence: announce, position, build the channel, ship the launch, then scale.

01

Series A Announcement

The fundraise is a launch in itself. Press, customer letter, recruiting moment, investor amplification.

Press Release Embargo Strategy Founder Media Training
02

Market Positioning

The category your science creates. Messaging hierarchy, ICP definition, competitor mapping, technical narrative.

Positioning ICP Narrative
03

Channel Strategy

Earned, paid, owned. Where your buyers actually pay attention, and the budget split that matches your funnel.

04

Launch Execution

Coordinated go-live across paid, PR, founder activation, customer reference, and trade press. Day-one impact.

Post-Launch Growth

Pilot motion, customer story engine, recruiting flywheel, and the build toward Series B or commercial scale.

Pricing

Three engagement models for deep tech.

Retainer. $15,000 to $60,000 per month. Ongoing PR, content, paid media, and go-to-market strategy. Best for companies running multiple launches or in continuous fundraise mode. 6-month minimum.

Project-based. $50,000 to $250,000 fixed scope. Series A or B announcement packages, hardware launches, commercial debuts. 8 to 16-week timelines.

Success-fee hybrid. Reduced retainer plus performance fee tied to fundraise outcome, crowdfunding raise, or pilot conversion. Available for select clients with quantifiable launch metrics.

We do not publish exact rate cards because deep tech engagements vary widely. Two robotics companies of identical size often need very different scopes. Send us your fundraise size and launch window, and we will scope a recommendation in 48 hours.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a deep tech marketing agency?

A deep tech marketing agency is a specialist marketing partner for companies built on hard science, novel hardware, or frontier engineering. It translates technical complexity into investor narrative, customer demand, and category authority across PR, paid media, content, and go-to-market.

How is deep tech marketing different from B2B SaaS marketing?

B2B SaaS marketing optimises a known funnel: free trial, product-led growth, self-serve checkout, fast pilots. Deep tech sells novel science to technical buyers, often with 12 to 24 month sales cycles, regulated content, board-level investor scrutiny, and hardware logistics. The playbook is closer to launch PR plus enterprise sales than to SaaS growth hacking.

How much does a deep tech marketing agency cost?

Deep tech retainers typically run $15,000 to $60,000 per month depending on PR intensity, paid media spend, and content volume. Series A announcement packages run $50,000 to $250,000 as fixed-scope projects. Some engagements include a success fee tied to fundraise outcomes.

When should a deep tech startup hire an agency vs build in-house?

Hire an agency when you need senior PR contacts, paid media expertise across multiple platforms, and launch firepower for a 12-week window. Build in-house when you have a steady content engine, recurring product launches, and a head of marketing who can manage specialists. Most Series A deep tech companies do both: a small in-house team plus an agency for launches and PR.

Do deep tech agencies handle PR and investor comms?

Yes. Investor PR is one of the most valuable services for deep tech companies. That includes Series A and B announcements, board updates, customer reference letters, and ongoing thought-leadership placements in TechCrunch, Sifted, The Information, FT and tier-one trade press. Blazon runs investor comms alongside customer-facing campaigns. See our PR services.

What's the difference between deep tech and hard tech?

Deep tech is the broader category: any company built on a defensible scientific or engineering breakthrough, including software-led fields like AI and quantum. Hard tech is a subset focused on physical products: hardware, robotics, energy, materials, space. Most hard tech is deep tech, but not all deep tech is hard tech.

Can a deep tech agency help with crowdfunding?

Most cannot. Blazon is the exception. We have raised $120M+ for clients on Kickstarter, Indiegogo and equity crowdfunding platforms, with deep tech hardware among the most successful categories. Crowdfunding can validate demand, build a customer pipeline, and de-risk a Series A pitch.

How long is a typical deep tech engagement?

Project-based engagements (Series A announcement, product launch) run 8 to 16 weeks. Retainers typically start at 6 months and extend through commercial launch. Long-term partnerships of 18 to 36 months are common for clients building toward a Series B or acquisition.

Do you work with pre-revenue companies?

Yes, if you have closed a Series A or are within 6 months of one. We do not take pre-seed companies or unfunded founders. Deep tech requires a real budget and a real product roadmap to market effectively.

Which sectors do you cover?

AI and machine learning, robotics, biotech and medtech, climate tech and energy, quantum computing, space and aerospace, hardware and IoT, materials science, defense tech, and adjacent frontier categories. Sectors we decline: pure consumer apps, generic B2B SaaS, gambling, and crypto speculation.

Do you work with US-based, UK-based, or both?

Both. Blazon has offices in London and New York and runs US, UK and EU launches simultaneously. We handle press in The Information, TechCrunch, Forbes, Sifted, FT, Tech.eu, Wired, and the regional trade press your customers actually read.

Can you help with our Series A announcement?

Yes. Series A announcements are one of our highest-volume project types. The package covers narrative, press release, exclusive pitch, embargo strategy, founder media training, customer letter, recruiting moment, and a 4-week post-announcement amplification plan. Typical timeline is 8 weeks from kickoff to live. Get in touch to scope yours.
